Fa’ael Arts in Communities, Iraq

Arts Canteen is delighted to announce a new partnership with Action For Hope العمل للأمل and British Council in Iraq to provide Iraqi cultural managers with insight and connections into the UK’s arts and cultural sector, and improve their understanding of UK-based approaches and experience in the area of socially-engaged and community-based arts programming, and to connect Iraqi participants to relevant UK creative and cultural individuals and organisations. 

Arts Canteen will be working with 5 cultural projects by programme participants that were selected to receive financial, legal and technical support.

Fa’ael is a programme designed and launched in 2017 by Action for Hope to build the capacity of Arab cultural managers and activists working under difficult conditions and targeting communities in crisis. Fa’ael was launched in Iraq in March 2020 and will continue throughout 2021.

Action for Hope is a non-profit association founded in 2015 to provide cultural development and cultural relief programmes that meet the cultural, social and psychological needs of distressed, marginalised and displaced communities. 

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, building lasting relationships between the UK and other countries. It is an essential part of our international effort to promote British values and interests.
