AWAN x Iraq (Arab Women Artists Now) is a year-long project by Arts Canteen (UK) and the Station (Iraq) to develop the skills of Iraqi female artists in Baghdad, Basra and Erbil through a professional development programme.
The first part will focus on developing artistic practices including photography, music, animation, design and digital art. The second part will focus on curating, marketing, fundraising, financial management and community work. The project will also bring Iraqi and UK female artists together for peer-to-peer mentoring sessions and to collaborate and create new work, which will be showcased at the AWAN festival in 2023 in London and Baghdad.
We are now looking for 5 UK-based Arab female artists and creative professionals to join the programme. We want to hear from you!
This project is funded by the British Council’s International Collaboration Grants, which are designed to support UK and overseas organisations to collaborate on international arts projects.
