We are seeking new trustees with experience in marketing, fundraising or charity law to join our board!
Arts Canteen
- Promote and support diverse and marginalised Arab artists and arts professionals from across the UK and the Arab world
- Present high-quality Arab artists from around the world to UK audiences
- Enhance recognition and opportunities for Arab artists through professional development, live performances, digital media and community engagement
- Drive change through artistic programmes that address urgent social and environmental issues
- Develop partnerships with leading cultural, educational and social organisations to develop arts opportunities and reach and inspire diverse audiences across the UK
Our Ambition
By 2026, we want Arts Canteen to be a internationally-recognised arts organisation with:
- A resilient business structure with diverse funding sources, combining philanthropic giving, grants and earned income
- A thriving annual AWAN festival with cutting-edge content from international, national and local female artists
- A world-class cultural programme showcasing the best of emerging Arab talent from the UK and the Arab world
- A programme of work expanded outside London to place with large Arab communities
- A year-round programme of work for emerging Arab artists developed through partnerships with leading creative industries and arts partners in the UK and beyond
- Development opportunities for Arab creatives to create a pipeline of Arab talent for the creative sector
- Innovation, diversity, inclusion and excellence at the heart of all our work and in the people we work with
To this we need trustees who reflect the UK’s cultural and social diversity to help us build structures, extend our networks and secure funding.
Trustees are expected to
- Offer strategic support to Arts Canteen’s Executive Team on the development and delivery of our business plan
- Advise and support on the development of all aspects of creative projects and business, including branding and audience development
- Help develop fundraising strategies
- Act as ambassadors for our work
We are especially seeking individuals with contacts and expertise in
- Digital communications, marketing and branding
- Fundraising via trusts and foundations and individual donors
- Charity law and governance
