Join us at Rich Mix for a conversation between practising artists and cultural practitioners on the many paths taken and the obstacles they have faced in their journey.
From female perspectives, we will hear how barriers have been broken, what issues we need to rally behind, and the hopeful future we can cultivate for Arab women in the arts.

Cristina O’Hanlon is a creative and the director and founder of an effort art residency in London, UK. She holds a Masters degree in Interior Design from Florence Design Academy (2013) with a thesis ‘Designing places of culture in context – Khoisan.’ She has worked internationally (UK, Hong Kong) in the design and fashion fields and her artwork has been featured in VOGUE Italia.
The talk will be moderated by Heba Elkayal.
Heba Elkayal is a curator, writer and researcher based between Cairo and London, specializing in modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art. Heba regularly consults for auction houses and private collectors and works closely with emerging artists from the region.

Arab Women Artists Now (AWAN) is the UK’s only contemporary multi-arts festival dedicated to showcasing Arab women’s artistic work, taking place each March, to coincide with International Women’s Day across venues in London. The festival showcases work in venues across London. Celebrating and promoting high quality female artists from the Arab world and diaspora the cross-arts festival features music, comedy, literature, visual art, theatre and performance, along with a series of workshops and development opportunities for emerging artists.
